“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.” – 1 Corinthians 13:4-7
True Love is Sacrificial. It lacks selfishness, it is shown regardless if pleasure is received or not, its not a feeling whatsoever, and its pure definition is sacrifice and only one man was able to show it perfectly to the entire human race; sacrificing His body, mind, and Soul, for us, persevering through suffering and horrendous torture beyond comprehension, keeping no record of our wrongs and giving us the opportunity to be protected from the eternal dangers that were to come.
Christ is patient towards us in our anger, kind to us in our suffering, and understanding of our sanctified cries when we fall. That is the True Nature of Christ the Savior, and the True nature and definition of what Love should be to all of us. We are called to Love the Lord with all our hearts, and Love each other as Christ Loved us. Only then will our hearts be fulfilled and our souls replenished with the refreshing eternal waters Christ offers to quench our thirst of eternal companionship with Him and His people. And it is only done by True Love. In Him, the one who is I Am.
Truly the definition of Love has changed within our time, whether the current definition is pleasure, sex, passionate infatuation/desire or pure sensuality; the true definition of Love is Christ, and we must follow him in order to constantly Love like him, become better people, find total security, and truly find fulfillment in him.
The human heart yearns for a definition of Love that fulfills.
Oh Christians, let it be known to the world, let it be lived out toward the masses that the true definition of Love they seek is manifest through the one and only all powerful grand Savior, the all-powerful Wonderful Counselor, that that kind of Love is manifested into the world through the Wonderful Counselors sanctified ambassadors.
– This is actually a freewrite I made from 2014, with a bit of modifications from my 2020 self. The True definition of Love was lived out by a person. If you want to have an actual and accurate definition of Love look none other than the character of Christ. If you want to be blown away like how I was back in 2014, replace all the words of “Love” from 1 Corinthians 4 – 7 and replace them with “Jesus”. Its a little technique I learned from an amazing high school leader who was in charge of our high school group back then. I hope this old freewrite can be used to encourage others who too were/are confused regarding the true definition of Love.
